The doll reference

Using the doll as a reference for the painting

Doll model and its pose

If you have a doll and would be interested in ordering a painting with her in the main role, you can do it this way (example pose).

Place her in the position you want to suit the subject you have in mind. After this, take several pictures from slightly different angles so that the anatomy of the doll is clearly visible. The pictures don't have to be perfect, as long as the lighting is sufficient and corresponds to the direction of the lighting you want for the painting.

Write a description of the background that will be included in the painting in a form that is as understandable as possible. In addition to the background description, you can also use an image to support the explanation. Mark the actual model image that you want to be the reference for the painting.

The doll can be painted as a doll or according to the natural human anatomy. There is no need to align the doll's eyes for photography, as long as you tell the desired direction of the look. The same goes for the doll's fingers. Clothing should be indicative, not a perfect fit. The subject of the painting is free, but if the topic is very personal, a small advance payment may be necessary.

Please note that I do not paint family portraits, but only paintings according to the theme of the site.

Standing position

The doll cannot be in a crouching or similar position like the woman in the "Lara Art" painting on the front page. A new doll is usually capable of standing poses like in the attached picture, but don't break it by trying too complicated pose. It is possible to create the position of a lying-down doll to correspond to, for example, a squatting position, but in this case you should pay attention to the fact that the material of the doll bulges in the wrong way from the back.
